Yiwu handles over 510 million parcels in half a month

Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province processed and delivered over 510 million parcels during the Double Eleven shopping festival, which ran from Nov 1 to 15.
Express delivery companies in the city handled over 50.8 million parcels on Nov 11, up 36.8 percent year on year and accounting for 7.5 percent of the national total of 675 million.
From Nov 11 to 16, e-commerce and foreign trade companies in Yiwu delivered over 10 million parcels, up 34.38 percent year-on-year. The Yiwu Bonded Logistics Center alone cleared over 3.34 million cross-border orders, up 159 percent year on year.
Yiwu has been dubbed "the world's supermarket" and it leads China's express delivery industry thanks to its strong e-commerce environment, said a spokesperson for the municipal post bureau.
The city boasts 35 e-commerce industrial parks and 168 e-commerce villages and is home to over 310,000 e-commerce professionals.
Exports and domestic sales of products related to the stay-at-home economy, including baking tools and fitness equipment, have seen rapid growth as well.
