As of Dec 14, Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province had approved over 10 million '9610 businesses', a 241.6 percent year-on-year increase, and the city's exports were valued at $28.7 million.

'9610' (a customs supervision code) refers to a new cross-border e-commerce business supervision model created in February 2014 wherein certain companies are designated '9610 businesses'.

Under this model, customs officers only need to review a list of export commodities submitted in advance by cross-border e-commerce enterprises before approving the goods. The model improves customs clearance efficiency and reduces costs. 

On Nov 30, customs officers in Yiwu inspected and approved 425,600 parcels in a single day.

The success of the 9610 model is expected to increase cross-border e-commerce and reduce clearance costs for enterprises, according to an official at the city's bureau of commerce.
