Jinhua offers benefits to non-locals during Spring Festival
Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province has rolled out a slew of measures to incentivize non-locals to stay in the city rather than return to their hometowns during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday.
Non-local workers are able to receive shopping vouchers and coupons during the holiday. For example, Jinhua's Wucheng district gifted qualified non-locals a 500-yuan ($77.45) subsidy for their housing rents and a 100-yuan-worth data package for their mobile phones.
Most of the city's scenic sports will provide greatly-discounted entrance tickets for non-locals during the holiday.
Fee-charging will also be cancelled in most of the city's parking lots between Feb 10 and 26.
Jinhua authorities will host a variety of culture and leisure activities for the school-age children of non-locals free of charge. For example, during the holiday, all public elementary and junior high schools in Yiwu, a county-level city administered by Jinhua, will offer all their students without local household registration the opportunity to attend a winter camp, which consists of extracurricular activities, school library services, and social practices under teachers' supervision.
Jinhua will also encourage local companies to offer proficiency trainings to their non-local workers during the holiday. For example, the city's Jindong district will grant a qualified employer up to 1,040 yuan in subsidies for each employee it has trained.
Jinhua will hold a number of large-scale job recruitment fairs online and offline in the coming weeks, ensuring the highest chances for non-locals to stay employed during the holiday.
