Zhejiang authorities released the 2020 Report on Zhejiang Residents' Reading Habits at a promotional event for reading held in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province on April 23, which coincides with World Book Day.

The report shows a growing interest in reading among the province's adults. An average adult in Zhejiang read 10.14 books - including both paper and electronic books - in 2020, up from 9.31 books in 2019.

31.73 percent of Zhejiang adults spend at least one hour reading every day.

Zhejiang is currently home to more than 12,000 reading service providers, including public libraries and bookstores. Zhejiang residents' overall satisfaction rate with reading infrastructure stood at 88.5 percent in 2020 based on a survey.

The province's public libraries house a total of 93.15 million paper books and 41.25 million electronic books.
