15.37m Zhejiang residents receive first shot of coronavirus vaccine
As of May 9, a total of 19.283 million shots of the coronavirus vaccine, of which 15.371 million are the initial jabs, have been completed in East China's Zhejiang province, according to a news briefing in the provincial capital of Hangzhou on May 10.
COVID-19 vaccination rates among the province's medical staff, public sector staff (excluding public hospital workers), and higher education institution students were 89.6 percent, 89.7 percent, and 80.5 percent respectively.
Zhejiang provides COVID-19 vaccines to all adults on voluntary basis, regardless of their household registration. For those who have already received the first shot of the vaccine outside Zhejiang and have volunteered to receive the second jab in Zhejiang, the province will use same vaccine as before as long as it is available.
Zhejiang currently has a total of 1,822 clinics that are qualified to administer COVID-19 vaccinations. Combined, these clinics can deliver one million shots per day.
