Zhejiang benefits from China-CEEC Expo
The second China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair will be held in the eastern city of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province from June 8 to 11.
Zhejiang has seen increasingly frequent interactions with Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) in recent years.
On May 26, a direct air freight route was launched between Ningbo and Budapest, capital of the eastern European country of Hungary.
At the end of April, the Ningbo customs office started to run an information-sharing platform for China and the CEEC to facilitate and monitor bilateral trade.
"Food and agricultural products are the CEEC's top priorities in foreign trade. These countries hope to export more of such goods into China and use the new platform to keep track of the trade volume," said Sun Xiangyang, deputy director of the Ningbo customs office, when discussing the platform at its release ceremony.
According to Sun, Zhejiang reported 4.07 billion yuan ($639.4 million) worth of imports from eastern European countries over the first four months of this year, up 117 percent from the corresponding period last year.
"Wanfeng aircrafts, designed in the Czech Republic and made in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, will make its China debut at this year's China-CEEC Expo,"noted Hu Zhenfang, deputy director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce.
