Ji Xiaojun, a well-known anchor at CGTN (China Global Television Network), was the English-language host for the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games on the evening of Feb 4.

Ji was born and raised in Yiwu, East China's Zhejiang province. His extended family, which still lives in Yiwu, watched the live broadcast of the opening ceremony on TV with great joy and pride, according to local media reports.

Ji was also the English-language host for both the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. A seasoned media veteran, Ji has shouldered the task of hosting English-language broadcasts for numerous international events organized by Chinese authorities over the past decade.

Ji was an English-language major graduate at the Beijing Language and Culture University. He obtained an MBA degree from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.
