Yiwu authorities help recruit factory workers from afar
On Feb 7, human resource staff from 11 Yiwu-based companies arrived in Bazhong city, Southwest China's Sichuan province, and launched a three-day recruitment fair.
The next day, 427 new employees of numerous Yiwu enterprises boarded dedicated Yiwu-bound coaches in their hometowns of Nujiang Lisu autonomous prefecture in Southwest China's Yunnan province and Dingxi city in Northwest China’s Gansu province.
These moves were sponsored by Yiwu authorities with the aim of ensuring a sufficient workforce in the city following the Spring Festival holiday, which lasted from Jan 31 to Feb 6 this year, as well as enriching local households in less-developed regions in western Chinese provinces.
"My fellow Bazhong natives, I was born and raised in Bazhong as well but have been working in Yiwu for almost 20 years. You can find a well-paid job and lead a comfortable life in Yiwu," said Li Qilei, a department manager of Mengna Socks & Hosiery Co, at the job fair in Bazhong.
"Our company is offering 480 job posts this time. The remuneration is pretty good. For example, the monthly salary for a lathe operator on cotton sock production lines is 7,500 yuan ($1,184) to 8,500 yuan," Li added.
The 11 Yiwu-based companies published 2,062 job vacancies at the recruitment fair in Bazhong, attracting a large number of jobseekers from surrounding regions.
