The factory, which started mass production in January 2021, has the world's largest photovoltaic module workshop which is the size of 10 soccer fields, as well as the world's largest smart stereoscopic warehouse that has the highest tonnage in the photovoltaic industry.
Yiwu also introduced HC Semitek Co, a leading supplier of light-emitting diode (LED) chips, to establish a production base for LED chips, LED epitaxial wafers, and sapphire products in 2016. The Yiwu plant now boasts the largest production volume of LED chips among all such factories in Asia.
Encouraged by HC's success, a number of leading LED companies such as Refond, Forest Lighting, and Risen Energy have subsequently established plants in Yiwu, making it the first Chinese city with a complete LED industrial chain.
The number of national high and new technology firms in the city has risen from 33 to 226 over the past five years.
