The Jinhua municipal government in East China's Zhejiang province on Feb 16 held a commencement ceremony for the construction of the city's major culture and tourism projects.

The venue of the ceremony is the construction site for the Yiwu Grand Theatre, which is located to the north of the Yiwu Library in Yiwu, a county-level city administered by Jinhua.

Construction of the Yiwu Grand Theatre started in December 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2025. The theatre will have a floor space of 109,000 square meters. The project is estimated to have an investment of 2.4 billion yuan ($378.96 million).

The theatre will become a culture landmark in Yiwu that hosts various art performances such as operas, musicals, dances, and dramas.
