In the first two months of 2022, Yiwu customs issued a total of 31,995 certificates of origin for exports worth $743 million, a year-on-year increase of 3.22 percent.
The number of free trade certificates of origin increased by 25.79 percent year-on-year to 30,165, which were worth $687 million.
They are expected to save importers around 223 million yuan ($35.04 million) in tariffs.
A customs official said that the certificate of origin is an important means of expanding regional exports amidst slow global economic recovery, sluggish international trade, and declining market demand.
The number of such certificates indicates the vitality of foreign trade, according to the official.
In order to provide better services for local enterprises, Yiwu customs has launched an online system to automatically review the certificate of origin and promote self-service printing of the certificates to avoid face-to-face meetings and raise administrative efficiency. It also provided online and offline meetings with various government departments to popularize polices related to free trade agreements.
