A cargo flight, launched by Yiwu's culture and tourism authority and the Shantou Branch of China Southern Airlines, returned to Yiwu, Zhejiang province from Osaka, Japan on April 30, marking the successful operation of the city's first international cargo flight that was modified from a passenger one.
A total of 10 tons of goods were sent to Japan, including local cross-border e-commerce goods and small commodities developed in Yiwu. Advertisements for Yiwu's cultural and tourism attractions were posted on the outer packaging of the goods.
In February, the local culture, radio, television, tourism and sports bureau of Yiwu officially agreed to cooperate with the Shantou Branch of China Southern Airlines, take various measures to promote Yiwu-made small commodities around the world and promote the city as the home of the world's largest small commodity market.
Since then, a total of 15 flights decorated with posters promoting tourist attractions in Yiwu have left for domestic cities such as Taiyuan, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Kunming, and Urumqi.
Passengers are able to enjoy discounts on tickets to scenic areas, hotels, performances and restaurants in Yiwu.
In addition, Yiwu will launch cargo flights to Southeast Asian countries to promote high-quality development in economy and tourism, according to officials.
