A total of 60 companies based in Yiwu, East China's Zhejiang province were included among the first batch of scientific and technological small and medium-sized enterprises in the province in 2022, according to local media outlets.

Zhejiang UGOO Technology Co, headquartered in the Yiwu High-tech Development Zone, develops aerogel composite materials, a kind of new energy-saving material. The company continues to increase investment in research and development in an effort to optimize product quality. It has declared more than 20 patents of various types, and has authorized four invention patents, according to the company.

The company's director noted it will apply for the title of national high-tech company this year.

In recent years, Yiwu has attached heavy importance to the cultivation of scientific and technological SMEs. The city has also actively promoted various measures and preferential policies and provides high-quality services to encourage SMEs to apply for recognition as scientific and technological enterprises.

So far, 72 R&D institutions based in Yiwu have been recognized at the Jinhua city-level and above. A total of 131 companies plan to apply for recognition as national high-tech enterprises.
