The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently released a new batch of 325 national intangible cultural heritage items, expanding the list established in 2006 to 1,557 items.

"Zhu Danxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture", which is prevalent in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, was inducted into the category of traditional medicine items on the list.

The ICH application was made by the Yiwu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and the Yiwu Sanxitang National Medicine Drugstore Co, both of which have been dedicated to preserving and promoting the Zhu Danxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture.

Zhu Danxi (1281-1358), born and raised in today's Yiwu, was one of the best-known medical scholars during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) who played a significant role in the development of traditional Chinese medicine.

Zhu's disciples eventually formed the Danxi school of TCM thoughts, which has lived on for more than 600 years.
