Yiwu Meihu Sports Center ready for provincial games

The renovation of the Yiwu Meihu Sports Center was completed recently and is set to host the upcoming 17th Zhejiang Provincial Games in July.
The renovation work, which cost more than 120 million yuan ($17.87 million), was carried out on 7,567 square meters of the sports center, which covers 31,800 square meters in total.
According to officials, the renovation included lighting for the stadium, sports flooring, a display screen, sunken corridors, decoration of players' lounge and the press conference hall, monitoring systems for each venue, firefighting equipment and a sound reinforcement system.
The 17th Zhejiang Provincial Games will be held in Jinhua in July.
The games are the largest comprehensive sports meet in the province and are held every four years. This is the first time a city in central or western Zhejiang has hosted a provincial sporting event.
The games will consist of 34 major sports events and 51 supporting events, including 27 major event and 37 supporting events in competitive sports. In addition, three major events and 10 supporting events related to mass sports will be held, along with three winter sports events and one performance.
This year's event will see 1,076 gold medals being handed out for 910 categories in 34 sports, and over 16,210 athletes from around the province will take part.
