A batch of Yiwu's cross-border e-commerce parcels completed customs clearance procedures at the Yiwu Express (Cross-border) Supervision Center on June 9 with the cross-border e-commerce (9610 customs supervision code) business model under the supervision of Yiwu Customs, which will be transited to Ningbo Customs by freight train and then be shipped abroad from the Ningbo Beilun Port.

This is the first time Zhejiang province has combined cross-border e-commerce and sea-rail combined transport for exports.

The batch of exported goods was made up of 755 parcels worth 388,600 yuan ($57,654.19), mainly clothing and daily necessities.

Shipping cross-border e-commerce products by sea is convenient as it is cheap and a high volume of goods can be shipped at once. In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, the transportation of cross-border e-commerce goods by sea is about half the cost of air transportation. It is a good choice for small- and medium-sized cross-border e-commerce enterprises that export low-value-added and high-volume parcels, according to Yiwu Customs.

With a special service for sea-rail combined transport provided by the Yiwu-Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, cross-border e-commerce goods released by Yiwu Customs at the Yiwu West Station can be sent abroad by sea without any additional customs clearance at the Zhoushan Port, cutting shipping time by two to three days.
