A special rail-sea intermodal train loaded with 100 twenty-foot equivalent units of solar photovoltaic modules departed from the Yiwu railway port on July 7.
The train will arrive at the Zhoushan Port in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, before being shipped to Yangon Port in Myanmar.
The solar photovoltaic modules loaded on the train will be used for the largest new energy project in Myanmar - the central Myanmar photovoltaic project with a total installed capacity of 160 megawatts.
The project is expected to provide Myanmar with more than 200 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity every year, working as a stable and high-quality clean energy source for surrounding areas.
According to officials, the rail-sea intermodal freight train resulting from cooperation between Yiwu and Ningbo provides a new way for goods made in China to be shipped overseas. Local photovoltaic products in Yiwu and surrounding areas can be exported to Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South Asian countries via ports in Myanmar, which significantly reduces transportation time and optimizes logistics in central Zhejiang.
In the first five months of this year, Yiwu's solar cell exports saw a year-on-year increase of 347.8 percent to 11.84 billion yuan ($1.77 billion).
