Yiwu's foreign trade grows 32.8% in H1

Yiwu's imports and exports were valued at 222.25 billion yuan ($97.73 billion) in the first half of this year, an increase of 32.8 percent year-on-year, according to official statistics from Yiwu Customs.

The value of exports totaled 202.95 billion yuan, rising 28.3 percent year-on-year, while imports amounted to 19.3 billion yuan, a surge of 109.5 percent.

From January to June this year, Yiwu exported 151.93 billion yuan in goods through market procurement trade, a year-on-year increase of 21 percent, accounting for 74.9 percent of the city's total exports. General trade imports and exports increased by 57.2 percent year-on-year to 60.61 billion yuan.

The city's top three trading partners during this period were Africa, the European Union, and the United States. Its trade with these economies was valued at 37.71 billion yuan, 29.86 billion yuan, and 28.73 billion yuan, respectively, up 8.1 percent, 72.1 percent and 74.8 percent.

In addition, the city's trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative rose 17.6 percent to 83.61 billion yuan and its trade with other member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership amounted to 37.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.7 percent.

In the first six months of 2022, Yiwu imported consumer goods worth 13 billion yuan, an increase of 60.2 percent annually and accounting for 67.3 percent of the city's total import value. Its imports of high-tech products surged 844 percent year-on-year to 3.23 billion yuan.

Over this period, the city's exports of mechanical and electrical products accounted for 39.9 percent of the city's total, valued at 80.97 billion yuan after a year-on-year increase of 34.8 percent. Its exports of high-tech products soared 183.7 percent yearly to 18.05 billion yuan.
