Yiwu sees GDP rise 6.5% in H1
Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province saw its gross domestic product grow 6.5 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2022, hitting 88.21 billion yuan ($13.05 billion), according to local statistics authorities.
The growth rate topped all cities and counties in Jinhua, and was 4 percentage points higher than that of the province.
The added value of the city's primary, secondary and tertiary industries totaled 1 billion yuan, 29.34 billion yuan, and nearly 57.87 billion yuan, respectively, in the first six months, up by 3.7 percent, 12.9 percent, and 3.8 percent.
In the first half of the year, Yiwu's industrial output value of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 77.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 66 percent, while the value-added industrial output increased by 41.6 percent year-on-year, remaining first in Jinhua.
Among the city's industries above designated size, the added value of the digital economy, equipment manufacturing, strategic emerging and high-tech industries increased by 95.3 percent, 84.4 percent, 77.1 percent and 56.2 percent, respectively.
Yiwu also saw robust foreign trade growth during the period.
The city's total import and export value hit 222.25 billion yuan from January to June, up 32.8 percent year-on-year. Its exports rose 28.3 percent to 202.95 billion yuan, while its imports surged 109.5 percent to 19.3 billion yuan.
