The old street in Fotang ancient town, Yiwu, was included in the second batch of pilot projects for the construction of provincial high-quality pedestrian streets by the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Commerce recently.

Fotang town is an increasingly popular destination in Yiwu's countryside. The 1,500-year-old settlement features traditional buildings adorned with stone and wood carvings and is celebrated for its merchant culture and sweet snacks.

The old street in Fotang town enjoys a history of more than 300 years. Stretching for over 2,500 meters in total, it has an 111,400-square-meter business area with more than 280 stores, time-honored shops, restaurants and snack bars.

All the buildings on the street use wood architectural styles from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.

A cobblestone alley winds through the street, highlighting the elegance and primitive simplicity of the carved windows and doors. People can enjoy the beauty of the old days while wandering down the street.

Promotional work for the old street in Fotang town will mainly focus on the nighttime economy and the introduction of more first stores in order to build a "15-minute living circle" for local residents.
