Two enterprises based in Yiwu recently won awards at the 23rd China Patent Awards, which are the country's top awards for patents.

The winners include Yiwu Easy Open Lid Industry Corp and HC Semitek Zhejiang Co, both high-tech enterprises focusing on innovation.

The "basic lid forming and curling two-in-one mold and forming method" invented by the Yiwu Easy Open Lid Industry Corp is suitable for can lids of various shapes, including circular and elliptical ones. The forming and curling of the can cover can be completed all at once, reducing the number of processing procedures and equipment, investment, and workers in order to make up for the deficiencies and defects of existing technology.

This was the fourth time HC Semitek Zhejiang Co won such an honor. According to the company, light-emitting diodes are semiconductor electronic components that emit light. As a new type of high-efficiency, environmentally friendly, and green lighting source, LEDs are widely used in traffic lights, vehicle interior and exterior lights, and urban landscape lighting. The "epitaxial wafers of light-emitting diode and preparation methods" developed by the company can improve the overall quality of the epitaxial layer and improve the luminous efficiency of the LEDs.

The China Patent Award, co-organized by the National Intellectual Property Administration and the World Intellectual Property Organization, is the only award given by a State department that specifically rewards inventions and creations with patent rights. A total of 958 awards were given at this year's session.

Yiwu currently has more than 170,000 valid trademarks, 30,800 patents, and over 1,800 companies with patents. Nearly 200 companies in Yiwu have more than two invention patents.
