A batch of 56 jewelry accessories weighing 1,190 metric kilograms left Yiwu Airport on Aug 2 for Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, Guangdong province to be sent abroad.
The Yiwu-made products will be transported to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in France after passing customs clearance in Guangzhou. The whole journey will take 72 hours.
This is the first time Yiwu products have been exported via this model. Under the model, goods first can achieve declaration for export in the form of market procurement trade at local customs. After that, the goods will be transported to a large domestic logistics hub airport, and then go overseas via an international flight. The model allows most customs clearance procedures to be completed in Yiwu.
According to officials, the new model can not only simplify customs clearance processes, but also reduce transportation time for foreign trade enterprises by about 24 hours.
European and American countries are important overseas markets for Yiwu's jewelry accessories. However, taking multiple factors such as airport level, take-off and landing conditions, geographical environment and economic cost into consideration, the Yiwu Airport has only been able to open cargo routes under 6,000 kilometers to counties and regions in Southeast Asia and Russia.
The new model is expected to help open up new markets for Yiwu-made products, according to officials.
