Over 30 local industrial and agricultural products made in Yiwu were promoted on e-commerce platforms via livestreams from Sept 7 to Oct 17 to promote rural vitalization.

The livestreams attracted a total of 52,964 viewers and 1,336 orders, generating 59,944.83 yuan ($8,261.5) in sales, according to the Yiwu E-commerce Public Service Center, the organizer.

Since the beginning of this year, the Yiwu E-commerce Public Service Center has organized various livestreams to promote the sales of small commodities, advantageous industrial products, and brown sugar products in order to develop a comprehensive demonstration project for e-commerce in rural areas in Yiwu.

As one of the fastest-growing cities in e-commerce in Zhejiang province, Yiwu has been making efforts to teach people about livestreaming to rural towns and villages, aiming to share business opportunities brought about by e-commerce.

As of 2021, the city was home to 199 e-commerce villages, 13 e-commerce towns, and 97 provincial e-commerce demonstration villages, making it the largest e-commerce village cluster in the country.

Jiangbei Xiazhu, which has been dubbed China's "top livestreaming e-commerce village" in Yiwu, is now home to about 1,000 e-commerce brands and 6,400 small and micro-sized market entities, with 30,000 people involved in the industry. On average, 1.5 million parcels are mailed from Jiangbei Xiazhu each day, and the industry's annual turnover has exceeded 30 billion yuan, according to official data.
