The campaign launched by Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province to help the nation's central and western areas sell agricultural products was recently listed as a model case for poverty alleviation and rural vitalization in China.
Yiwu Market Group initiated the campaign in May 2020 with the aim of boosting the sales of over 10,000 kinds of products and handicrafts produced by more than 400 counties in 22 provinces in central and western China.
To date, the company has dispatched six groups of people to these places to select goods. These trips have resulted in some 364 million yuan ($56 million) worth of agricultural products sold in the first 10 months of this year. These sales are expected to generate an additional annual income of 50 million yuan for 5,000 families in places including Xinjiang, Gansu and Sichuan.
