The 15th China Yiwu International Forest Product Fair kicked off at the Yiwu International Expo Center on Nov 5.
The event, with a total exhibition area of 50,000 square meters, includes 2,075 international standard booths displaying over 100,000 kinds of goods from various industries, including furniture and accessories, wood and bamboo decorations, handicrafts, daily necessities, health food, tea-related products, flower gardening, forestry equipment and technology, and outdoor equipment and accessories.
The China Yiwu International Forest Product Fair, first launched in 2008, has received 3.7 million buyers from more than 100 countries and regions, who have purchased goods worth 54 billion yuan ($7.53 billion) so far, according to Wang Jian, Party secretary of Yiwu, adding that the fair has become the largest, most prosperous, most effective and most influential forestry exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region.
Wang hailed the fair as an important platform for the development of the forest product market, promoting the internationalization of the forestry industry, and serving the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Yiwu's wholesale market for daily commodities. Wang noted that Yiwu will continue to deepen reform and opening up, optimize its business environment, expand its economic and trade scale, and further promote the high-quality development of the forestry industry in the new era.
