Yiwu builds 164 overseas warehouses worldwide
In an effort to expand the global reach of its products, Yiwu in East China's Zhejiang province has set up 164 overseas warehouses in 52 countries and regions in recent years.
These warehouses make it easier for overseas buyers to purchase Chinese goods and facilitate small commodity trade. The warehouses have both exhibition halls and multi-level storage shelves where small goods are organized by category. Customers can choose and purchase products on the spot, making the process of procuring and shipping goods much more efficient.
In addition, the recent launch of the Yiwu Small Commodity City online platform has further streamlined the buying process. The platform enables buyers and sellers to conduct business online, with over 75,000 shops already registered on it.
According to Zhu Rongfang, general manager of Yiwu 1Mi Supply Chain Management Service Co, which has established five overseas warehouses in four countries and serves over 400 small and micro enterprises, the company's annual revenue has surpassed 1 billion yuan ($144.56 million) since 2020.
The local government of Yiwu is investing heavily in promoting small commodity trade and digital transformation services. In November 2022, construction began on the Yiwu Global Trade Center, a new-generation small commodity market.
In addition to merchants, the 1.3-million-square-meter market will house trade service providers, enterprise service agencies, and digital transformation service providers.
