Over 230 countries and regions engage in trade with Yiwu, Zhejiang province, infusing the city with a vibrant blend of multiculturalism, youthful energy, and a global outlook, local media reported on May 18.

The Jimingshan residential community stands out as a cluster of expats in Yiwu. "Jimingshan has a permanent population of 29,000, including 2,000 residents from 29 ethnic minorities and 1,300 foreigners from 70 countries and regions," said He Wenjun, secretary of the community.

In addition to Chinese courses, themed activities related to food, culture and clothing are also held regularly to promote communication and exchanges between foreign and local residents.

Presently, Yiwu plays host to more than half a million foreign buyers annually, who immerse themselves in the local way of life.

In January, Yiwu unveiled the "Ten Measures for Optimizing the International Business Environment and Enhancing Foreign-Related Services", which are now being implemented with great resolve.

The measures include provisions for streamlined work and residence permits, offering foreign-related legal services, establishing international integrated communities, providing medical services tailored to the needs of foreigners, and offering policy consultations and comprehensive government services for international endeavors.
