A collective wedding ceremony for 10 Chinese and foreign couples, showcasing the charm of Song Dynasty culture, was held in Yiwu on May 20.
"For me, this is a truly meaningful experience that has deepened my understanding of Song Dynasty (960-1279) culture," said a Syrian national who has been in love with his Chinese wife for 18 years.
The wedding ceremony showcases a range of activities, including classical performances, historical and cultural exhibitions, displays of Song Dynasty attire, and traditional tea houses. There is also an interactive area for traditional games such as archery and pitch-pot.
"We hope to establish a new trend of simple and fun wedding ceremonies," stated an official from the Yiwu civil affairs bureau.
He said the Song Dynasty wedding ceremony not only highlights the rich cultural heritage of Yiwu but also serves as a catalyst for a positive shift in wedding customs. As the event gains traction, it is expected to inspire more couples to get with the spirit of the times.
