With less than four months remaining until the opening of the Asian Games in Hangzhou, the "World Supermarket" of Yiwu is already reaping the benefits of the sporting event's economic impact, local media reported on June 6.
Yiwu exported 750 million yuan ($106 million) in sporting goods to Asian countries and regions in the first four months of this year alone, a 2.7 percent year-on-year increase.
The Yiwu International Trade Market is home to around 600 to 700 sporting goods merchants, offering a wide range of products including basketballs, soccer balls, table tennis equipment, ice skates, treadmills, and various other sports-related products.
The market is highly international, with 75 percent of its goods being primarily sold to countries and regions in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and America.
To meet the practical needs of businesses, Yiwu Customs has established dedicated clearance windows and assigned personnel to address company inquiries. They conduct risk assessment analyses for proposed business operations.
Additionally, they have implemented appointment-based clearance procedures, conducted pre-document verification, guided companies in customs declaration and inspection, and arranged for customs officers to work overtime for the inspection and release of Asian Games-related goods.
These measures ensure that goods can pass through customs without delay, providing seamless clearance procedures for businesses and supporting the flourishing "Asian Games economy."
