Zhejiang province recently certified the construction of multiple characteristic industrial towns, with Yiwu Photon Technology Town among them.

Situated in the northeastern region of Yiwu, Yiwu Photon Technology Town spans an area of 2.99 square kilometers in the core zone of the Yiwu Economic and Technological Development Zone.

Yiwu Photon Technology Town centers its positioning on semiconductor intelligent displays and new energy photovoltaic. The focus lies in creating an integrated science and innovation cluster that encompasses production, study, research, and application.

The town has attracted and nurtured six listed companies and 10 national high-tech enterprises, and had achieved an annual output value surpassing 40 billion yuan ($5.57 billion) by 2022. After full-scale production of current projects, it is estimated that the town's output value will exceed 100 billion yuan.

To date, the Yiwu Economic and Technological Development Zone has been home to two provincial-level characteristic towns: Yiwu Green Power Town and Yiwu Photon Technology Town.
