Yiwu in Zhejiang province witnessed a captivating showcase of the musical The Butterfly on the Bund on Aug 12.
The production, which gained attention with its themes of "mutual assistance among female protagonists," qipao, and "suspenseful espionage," enthralled audiences with its compelling narrative and artistic finesse.
Reflecting on the empowering message conveyed by the musical, the creators of The Butterfly on the Bund remarked, "We hope that this production serves as a beacon of women's strength, encouraging independence and embracing diversity."
In an unprecedented fusion of performing arts and cultural heritage, the city's theater not only staged the enthralling musical but also extended an invitation to Wu Danqing, president of the Yiwu Qipao Association, to conduct a public lecture on the rich history and etiquette of qipao.
The lecture, delivered with utmost grace and passion, aimed to provide a deep understanding of the evolution of qipao as an emblematic element of Chinese culture.
The Yiwu Qipao Association showcased an array of 36 qipao dresses, each tailored to suit different body types and preferences. This opportunity allowed participants to immerse themselves in the elegance and charm that qipao embodies.
During the event, a surge of enthusiasm for qipao culture was palpable among the younger generation. Wu Danqing's relentless encouragement resonated particularly with women of varying ages and body types, inspiring them to embrace the allure of qipao.
