Kenyan businessman receives successful surgery in Yiwu

The Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine in Yiwu recently performed a laparoscopic hernia repair surgery for a Kenyan trader.
Kinyanjui, a 77-year-old Kenyan businessman, had been suffering from inguinal hernia for the past 10 years.
Following a recommendation from a friend within the foreign business community in Yiwu, Kinyanjui chose to undergo treatment at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.
Yang Xiaohui, director of the Department of Hernia and Abdominal Wall Surgery, discussed the surgical plan in detail with Kinyanjui in English.
"My schedule is quite tight, and I must return to my country within a week," said Kinyanjui after making the decision to have the surgery. In response, Yang assured him, "You can actually start your journey back home just two days after the surgery."
Kinyanjui underwent a complete laparoscopic hernia repair surgery, with 1 incision of 1 cm and 2 incisions of 5 mm made on his abdomen to repair the defect on the right inguinal hernia.
There are currently over 16,000 foreign merchants residing in Yiwu, with more than 500,000 overseas buyers coming to Yiwu to purchase goods each year. In 2022, over 15,000 foreign patients sought medical treatment at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, with more than 500 being admitted to the hospital.
The hospital's medical staff has strong foreign language skills and the hospital offers bilingual services for self-registration, online diagnosis, and examination report services.
Furthermore, to facilitate the medical treatment of foreign patients, the hospital has introduced services from 19 international insurance companies.
