“Marriage season" is in full swing and the Yiwu wedding supplies market is bustling, local media reported on Sept 27.

Items like xi tang, sweet treats given as wedding favors, and xi zi tie, decorative stickers with the character for 'happiness', are selling well.

"Many couples started placing orders as early as late August, and with weddings scheduled for October, our orders are already booked up until November," said shop owner Chen Meizhen.

October is the peak season for wedding businesses, with orders pouring in almost daily. Daily sales have exceeded 8,000 boxes, and recently, they've had to work around the clock to ensure timely delivery.

Compared to the same period last year, sales have increased by approximately 50 percent in terms of order quantity and revenue. September and October sales figures have been nearly five times higher than in other months.

At one wedding supply store, items such as red carpets, lanterns, and other decorations have also entered a hot-selling period. Xie, a resident shopping for wedding supplies for her child, said that she values the sense of ceremony and wants to buy items related to the auspicious color red.
