Yiwu advances construction of child-friendly city
Yiwu recently announced the publication of the "Implementation Plan for the Construction of a Child-Friendly City (2023-2025)."
Based on the plan's overall requirements, the city aims to prioritize children's needs and interests, foster collaboration, devise comprehensive strategies, and encourage diverse participation.
The initiative seeks to establish six comprehensive systems for child-friendly development, focusing on policies, services, rights, spaces, environments, and integration.
By 2025, Yiwu aims to transform into a child-friendly city characterized by safety, vitality, inclusivity, and the overall well-being and happiness of its younger residents.
As part of the implementation strategy, Yiwu will undertake six major actions to foster a nurturing environment for its children. These actions include the cultivation of ten key project scenarios.
Efforts will be made to enrich the provision of cultural, recreational, and technological services for children. Over 300 activities, including lectures, reading sessions, and cultural performances, will be organized annually, with the introduction of 30 or more children's dramas in the cultural theater.
The city will also prioritize caring for orphans and children with no guardians, promoting rehabilitation services for disabled children, and improving a moderately inclusive welfare system for children.
Furthermore, Yiwu aims to renovate urban public spaces to be more child-friendly, enhance the safety and travel experience for children, establish child-friendly practice bases, and strengthen its capacity to prevent and respond to child-related disasters and accidents.
Moreover, the city will actively promote regional integration through cooperative exchanges, ensuring that children of migrant workers and foreign nationals can access high-quality services. Efforts will be made to foster multicultural interactions and integration.
