Yiwu's economy sees growths in multiple sectors

Yiwu's GDP for the first three quarters soared to 140.64 billion yuan ($19.22 billion), reflecting an 8.7 percent increase compared to the previous year, according to the latest data released by the municipal statistics bureau on Oct 24.

The total retail sales of consumer goods amounted to 81.37 billion yuan, marking a 6.9 percent year-on-year growth. Retail sales surged to 20.71 billion yuan, a 9.2 percent increase, while revenue from catering businesses witnessed a 50.9 percent surge, reaching 400 million yuan during the same period.

Yiwu exhibited exceptional international trade activities, with its total imports and exports reaching an impressive 432.1 billion yuan, a substantial 22.0 percent increase year-on-year. The city's exports reached 383.13 billion yuan, an 18.9 percent growth, while imports surged by 52.8 percent, amounting to 48.97 billion yuan.

Furthermore, the city experienced a rapid increase in the number of new market entities, with the total number reaching 1.02 million households by the end of the third quarter, a 17 percent year-on-year growth.

The per capita disposable income of Yiwu residents reached 62,678 yuan, a 6.6 percent growth compared to the previous year. Urban residents' per capita disposable income reached 69,355 yuan, growing 6.4 percent, while rural residents' per capita disposable income reached 38,926 yuan, a 6.5 percent increase.
