Yiwu, Dominica sign memorandum of understanding on friendly exchange
Yiwu in Zhejiang province and Roseau in Dominica inked a memorandum of understanding on friendly exchange on Nov 15, according to local media reports.
According to the memorandum, both sides will carry out practical and diversified exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, education, culture, tourism, and sports.
This makes Yiwu the first city in China to sign a memorandum of understanding on friendly exchanges with Dominica.
Yiwu Mayor Ye Bangrui extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Melissa Skalit, minister of housing and urban development in Dominica, and outlined the city's economic and social development.
Ye added that the memorandum will lay a solid foundation for further strengthening economic and trade exchanges, deepening youth exchanges, and carrying out cultural cooperation activities between the two sides.
Skalit expressed her gratitude to Yiwu's thoughtful reception and pointed out that Dominica boasts an abundance of agricultural, hydropower and tourism resources and a strong foundation for cooperation with China.
Skalit expressed hope that both sides will learn from each other in areas such as business environmental development, water resource management, and the development of the manufacturing and cultural tourism industries.
