Yiwu sees robust growth in cross-border e-commerce during double 11 festival
Yiwu Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Yiwu, Zhejiang province handled 3.79 million of cross-border e-commerce parcels during this year's "Double 11" festival (from Oct 31 to Nov 13), an increase of nearly 20 percent compared to the previous year, official statistics show.
Benefitting from the release of pent-up demand and continuous implementation of supportive policies, cross-border imported goods sales have shown strong growth momentum.
In addition to placing orders directly on cross-border e-commerce platforms, live streaming has also contributed to the continuous growth of import sales.
Consumers were highly impressed with the products being promoted, and live streaming accounted for 50 percent of the daily average orders, said an employee of a supply chain company in Yiwu.
The employee added that his company mostly sells health products and beauty products, with health products surpassing beauty products to become the best-selling for the first time, accounting for approximately 47 percent of total shipments.
To cope with the surge in orders during the festival, authorities of the Yiwu Comprehensive Bonded Zone have taken multiple measures, including implementing special emergency plans, scientifically allocating regulatory personnel, and coordinating 24-hour duty shifts to ensure that products reach consumers smoothly and quickly.
