New location of Yiwu International Mail Exchange Bureau launched
The new location of the Yiwu International Mail Exchange Bureau in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, was launched on Nov 29.
The new site covers an area of 10,000 square meters and has been equipped with advanced automated sorting and transportation facilities. The facilities will increase daily sorting capacity by a factor of five and raise the peak processing capacity to 500,000 items.
The post office has achieved the centralized collection and exchange of local international mail with the Postal Exchange Office, reducing intermediate transfer links. The cut-off time for local international mail can be postponed by half an hour, shortening overall transit time. After incoming mail passes through customs clearance, it can be directly delivered to the domestic distribution processing site on the opposite side, shortening delivery time for imported mail, said Jin Meizhen, manager of the Yiwu Postal International Branch.
Established in 2015, the bureau has been focusing on leveraging market economy advantages and has processed a total of 280 million items, with a peak daily processing capacity of 360,000 items, driven by the Belt and Road Initiative.
It is also one of the largest county-level exchange bureaus of China Post, with the highest daily processing capacity and the highest level of automation and informatization.
