Yiwu in Zhejiang province has been included in the provincial pilot program to build a greener and more sustainable future, the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission announced on Nov 10.

The city will adopt a sustainable development philosophy in areas such as transportation, new energy, circular economy, and construction.

It will also actively promote the green transformation of construction methods and popularization of prefabricated buildings as well as build a reclaimed water allocation facility.

The city will also build a photovoltaic industrial cluster and a complete industrial chain system for new energy vehicle power batteries.

Yiwu is looking to build an international logistics hub and establish a low-carbon and efficient transportation system. It will seize the green and low-carbon business and trade by relying on the construction of the free trade zone.

The city aims to strengthen the concept of saving energy and is building a circular economic model. It will also make efforts to create distinctive clusters and develop green and low-carbon industries, emphasizing system integration and green and low-carbon transition in key areas, as well as seize breakthroughs in reform and improve institutional mechanisms in the low-carbon field.
