Yiwu in Zhejiang province achieved prospective transaction of 150 million yuan ($21.07 million) at the 2023 Indonesia-ASEAN Stationery & Gift Expo, which concluded in Jakarta on Dec 2.
More than 10,000 professional buyers from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand attended the event.
Xu Liangzhi, a representative of Zhejiang iiGen Stationery Co, said his company displayed over 30 stationery items at the fair and engaged with 30 customers and the products will be listed for sale at the customers' stores next May.
Lin Zejing, a toy exhibitor, said his company's DIY puzzle products were so popular that he received orders of nearly 200,000 yuan during the event.
Holding the exhibition in Indonesia is an important step for the Yiwu China Small Commodities Market to promote its brands overseas, as it will help market entities expand in Southeast Asian countries, according to Huang Changchao, director of the Yiwu Stationery Association.
Huang added that authorities are planning to hold similar exhibitions in countries such as Mexico, Brazil, and Russia.
Yiwu has formed 28 delegations comprising 1,778 foreign trade companies to attend 170 overseas exhibitions this year.
