Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, issued its first traffic permits to charter buses on Feb 13, according to local media reports.

The charter buses are expected to retrieve rural migrant workers from Anhui for Jiaxing Hengmei Apparel Co Ltd in Wuzhen, Tongxiang, Jiaxing.

"Sending charter buses for our employees has really solved a lot of our problems," said Lyu Yaliang, office director of Hengmei, which postponed its scheduled operations from Feb 5 to 10 due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia.

However, a large number of employees are still not capable of returning to work and as a result, Hengmei is facing huge losses if it cannot finish the orders it received before the Lunar New Year.

After learning that the Jiaxing government is encouraging local companies to send charter buses to retrieve employees currently outside the city, Hengmei submitted a charter bus application to Tongxiang Transportation Construction and Investment Group on Feb 13 in hopes that the bus company would arrange charter buses for them.

The next day, the bus company sent three buses, each of which was equipped with two experienced drivers and one Hengmei employee in charge of taking temperatures, to retrieve 74 staff members for Hengmei within one day.

According to Jiaxing transportation management authorities, as of Feb 14, the city had issued six traffic permits to charter buses to retrieve 141 rural migrant workers.

Another 10 charter buses are scheduled to transport rural migrant workers currently in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces back to Tongxiang.
