Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province is testing online contract signing, according to local media reports on Feb 19.

Xiuzhou National High-tech Zone signed contracts with businessmen in Germany and Spain by live video streaming on Feb 19.

The high-tech zone in Xiuzhou district secured six contracts with a total investment of 420 million yuan ($60.02 million), four of which are foreign-funded projects worth $50 million.

Li Bin, who is in charge of investment promotion in the zone, said that the packaging equipment contract with Spanish clients had begun negotiations before the Lunar New Year. The clients originally planned to visit Xiuzhou in February.

"Although they canceled the visit due to the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak, the Spanish clients are still in close contact with us," added Li.

Li noted that after learning Xiuzhou would be testing out online contract signing, the clients were very supportive.

After the online signing ceremony, the two sides mailed their contracts to each other.
