Jiaxing center for disease control releases notice about COVID-19 vaccine

The Jiaxing Center for Disease Control in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, published a notice about a COVID-19 vaccine on Oct 15, local media reported.

The notice addresses these five frequently asked questions by Jiaxing residents.

Who can receive the vaccination?

The Zhejiang provincial departments have ordered the vaccine produced by Beijing-based Sinovac Biotech Ltd. The vaccine is not available on the market yet.

The vaccine is currently only available to three groups of people – professionals in need of protection from the novel coronavirus, those who are highly recommended to receive the vaccine and those who volunteer to receive the vaccine.

Professionals in need of protection refer to medical workers, epidemic prevention workers, port quarantine staff and frontier inspection workers.

Those who are highly recommended to receive the vaccine refer to those who work in public places and those traveling to medium- and high-risk countries and regions for official business.

How old does one have to be to receive the vaccination?

People most vulnerable to the novel coronavirus are aged from 18 to 59.

How many shots of the vaccine are required?

Two shots with an interval of 28 days.

How much does the vaccine cost?

200 yuan ($29.76) per shot.

How can I get vaccinated?

Jiaxing residents can consult vaccination clinics in local communities if they have an urgent need for vaccination. Before the vaccination, they must review the vaccination instructions in detail and sign a CONSENT FORM.
