Online Jiaxing Marathon begins

The online 2020 Jiaxing International Marathon kicked off on Oct 25 in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, and will run until Dec 25, local media reported.

A total of 990 Jiaxing runners attended the launch ceremony for the online marathon, which was 9.9 kilometers long in celebration of the 99th anniversary of the establishment of the the Communist Party of China.

Due to the epidemic, the 2020 Jiaxing International Marathon, which was supposed to be held on March 29, is now being held online.

The online event has no limits on the number, gender, or place of origin of participants and includes both a 42.195-kilometer full marathon, a 21.0975-km half marathon, a 10-km marathon, a 5.2-km mini marathon, and a 3-km family run.

There are three packages for entry fees and awards.

Package A has no entry fee and includes a self-downloaded certificate of completion and a virtue medal; package B includes an entry fee of 29.9 yuan ($4.46), a self-downloaded certificate of completion and a memorial medal; and package C includes an entry fee of 49.9 yuan, a self-downloaded certificate of completion, a memorial medal, and a memorial T-shirt.

In addition, 9.9 yuan ($1.46) from the entry fee of each participant will be donated to nonprofit organizations, and participants must upload a map of their running route within a certain period of time.

Moreover, during the two-month event, sports, bodybuilding, nutrition, and emergency medicine experts will be invited to deliver online lectures to teach participants the best exercise techniques.

Registration for the online marathon opened on Oct 25.
