Xu Zhufeng, a 34-year-old Jiaxing native, spent five years creating a flower library in Chang'an town, Haining county, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, local media reported.

Xu's flower library covers an area of 13 mu (0.87 hectares) and features more than 100 kinds of flowers, including corn poppy and raspberry.

Unlike other flower bases, Xu's has no well-planned raised paths between fields or orderly planting areas, but instead features a variety of freely growing flowers. Lotus flowers fill the ponds, trumpet flowers cover the fence, and Chinese roses and coreopsis bloom along the raised paths.

Xu believes that the growth rhythm of each plant has its own meaning, and visitors can witness each period of a plant's life at Xu's library, which has been well-received by visitors.

However, creating such a flower library was a huge gamble for Xu.

Tired of the nine-to-five routine at a design institute, Xu decided to quit his stable job and leased 13 mu of land in Chang'an to plant flowers.

Although he has engaged in gardening work for many years, growing flowers himself proved to be a challenge.

"In the beginning, I didn't know how to grow flowers and learned through trial and error," said Xu.

Through books, lectures, and experimentation, Xu soon learned the ropes. In addition to letting flowers grow freely, Xu also created some microlandscapes to his flower library.

Xu said that he plans to open a new flower base soon, and the old one will be renovated for tours.
