An exhibition of paintings and calligraphy works by members of the Guo family was held at the Jiaxing Museum in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 7, and will run until Jan 10, 2021, local media reported.

The exhibition is divided into three parts, and 64 pieces of art are on display. The first part displays works by male calligraphers and painters from the Guo family; the second part displays works by female calligraphers and painters from the family; and the last part displays works co-created by members of the family.

The Guos are a typical family in Jiangnan, the region south of the Yangtze River, and value cultural education.

Guo Guqiao, who was born in 1805, is the earliest Guo for which historical records exist. He enjoyed collecting paintings, calligraphy, and other antiques.

His offspring developed a strong affection for painting and all of them became skilled traditional Chinese painters.
