A mobile COVID-19 vaccination site at the Jiaxing Sports Center opened to the public on April 1, the largest of its kind in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, local media reported.

The site covers an area of 3,000 square meters and has 20 registration desks and 20 vaccination desks. It is capable of providing up to 5,000 doses per day.

The vaccination site is divided into nine areas for health screening, waiting, registration, vaccination, observation, cold-chain, and suspected abnormal reaction treatment, logistical support, and medical waste.

In order to ensure safe vaccinations and to properly treat adverse reactions, the suspected abnormal reaction treatment area is equipped with first aid equipment, and medicine and ambulances are on standby.

"Today is a trial and the site is expected to offer 600 to 800 doses," said Yang Jianzhong, director of the Chengnan subdistrict health service center where the vaccination site is located.

Yang said that the city will improve vaccination procedures and pre-job training for medical workers and volunteers based on problems encountered during the trial.

As of April 1, Jiaxing had established 105 COVID-19 vaccination sites, including 18 mobile vaccination ones, and more than 350,000 local residents had been vaccinated.

The city is currently preparing seven more mobile vaccination sites.
