Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province issued a notice on Jan 16 to encourage local residents to stay put for the upcoming Spring Festival holiday to help contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jiaxing residents have been advised not to visit medium and high-risk areas, and if they must visit these areas, they are required to report to their companies and residential communities or villages before leaving Jiaxing and after arriving in Jiaxing.

People from medium and high-risk areas are also advised not to visit Jiaxing, and those from cities with locally transmitted cases should report to their residential communities or hotels and companies immediately after arriving in Jiaxing.

People who visit Jiaxing must have a green health QR code and undergo nucleic acid tests at the nearest test station after arriving in the city. They are also required to monitor their own health.

Visitors are not allowed in nursing homes and welfare centers for children, and public venues like scenic spots, libraries, cinemas and museums must cap their visitor numbers at 75 percent of maximum capacity.

Jiaxing residents have been advised to wear face masks outdoors, wash their hands frequently, ventilate their rooms regularly, and maintain social distancing.

They are also advised to monitor their own health. Should symptoms such as fever, dry cough, fatigue, sore throat, hyposmia, hypogeusia, and diarrhea occur, people should visit the nearest fever clinic as soon as possible and declare their travel history to the doctor.
