​Jiaxing among top 10 in per capita disposable income

The per capita disposable income of Jiaxing residents reached 60,048 yuan ($8,845.92) in 2021, an increase of 9.8 percent over the previous year and ranking 8th among prefecture-level cities in China, official data showed.

Suzhou, Wuxi, Shaoxing, Dongguan, Foshan, Zhuhai, Zhoushan, Jiaxing, Huzhou and Changzhou were the top 10 prefecture-level cities in China in terms of per capita disposable income.

The per capita disposable income of the city's rural residents was 43,598 yuan, an increase of 9.5 percent over the previous year and ranking first in the province for the past 18 years, while that of urban residents was 69,839 yuan, up 8.9 percent over the previous year and ranking fourth in the province for the past 10 years.

The urban-rural income gap narrowed from 1.61 in 2020 to 1.6 in 2021, the lowest in the province.

In addition, Jiaxing's GDP exceeded 635.52 billion yuan in 2021, up 8.5 percent over the previous year, the fifth highest in the province and 0.4 percentage points higher than the national average.

The city aims to achieve a per capita disposable income of 78,000 yuan by 2025, and wages are expected to account for more than 50 percent of the city's GDP.
