Yuxin town in Nanhu district, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has acquired wealth from the snail industry due to the increasing popularity of snails among Chinese diners.

In 2001, Yuxin town was recognized as the "land of snails" by the Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Ocean and Fishery.

In recent years, snails raised by local farmers occupy more than half of the national market and have been exported overseas, becoming the supplier of many world top 500 catering enterprises.

Jiaxing Qianfu Food Co Ltd located in Yuxin town is the only food enterprise in China that integrates breeding, training, sightseeing, acquisition, research and development, processing and sales in the whole snail industrial chain.

The company currently has three production lines, including a snail meat production line with an annual processing capacity of more than 3,600 metric tons, a flavored snail production line with an annual output of more than 1 million bags, and a ready-to-eat snail production line with an annual output of more than 2 million bags.

In addition, the company works closely with local farmers, carries out free technical training every year and buys finished snails at a price at least as high as the protective price from farmers, which increases the income of local farmers.

Wang Haizhen, a resident of Yuxin town, started raising snails in 2019 and can earn about 250,000 yuan ($36,889.27) annually.
